I’m working from home today.? CNN is my channel of choice for the morning and? the news is? a barrage of painful, potent pictures. The devastation in Haiti? feels like more than I can bear? and I’m not even there.?
Today also brings photos of? the powerful missional journey of Dr. King. A? closing? shot shows? his tomb in Atlanta? engraved with? the timeless words, “Free at last…” How true for all? Jesus-followers, like Dr. King, who rose up to do what needed to be done and when their time? on earthly sod was finished, they were? free indeed.
Friends,? it feels like we lack? a lot? in a small church;? finances, resources, people…you get it. But what we do have PLENTY of? is the ability to? show our students how to love? others.? How to serve, really serve. How to see people? for who they are? on a one-on-0ne basis. How to care about places like Haiti and do what we can.? We can show our teens that what we do as Jesus followers is what needs to be done to love His people.
This type of ministry isn’t dependant on size or finances or resources. What do our kids get out of it? Freedom to live, love, serve. Free indeed. Free? at last.
